"The more different you are from other people, the more valuable you are economically...People are valuable because they are different. Everybody is unfathomably different from everyone else. That fact is not being harnessed enough and can be harnessed more." @DavidDeutschOxf

If you feel that you are in competition with anyone, for anything, you are a loser.

Today the US government will wrap up collecting almost 4 trillion USD in taxes. And if you don’t pay, someone with a gun will show up to collect the money or collect you. They won’t accept Bitcoin. Just USD. $4T in USD demand every year, enforced by guns. Makes you think.

Together with @CABedardPhysics, I'm organising a conference on the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics in July of this year. Speakers include Chiara Marletto and David Wallace. It promises to be quite interesting. everett2021.squarespace.com

Thanks for the link. Yes those are amazing research results that bode well for very high-tech medicine that could achieve some holy-grail outcomes. 🤞

@DavidDeutschOxf have you seen this video? Seems to be compelling biological evidence confirming so much of your philosophy ted.com/talks/michael_…

This (soundcloud.com/brett-hall-653…) is a longish exploration of this thread, tweet-by-tweet. Forgive some of the "mumbling" delivery as I read the Tweets themselves (which will be useful to refer to). In the last 10 mins or so, I refer to the article here: meaningness.com/logic-eternali…

The necessity for failures is a law of the universe. The necessity for suffering is not.

With a universal free playing ground for developing ideas, most of the new ideas must fail. You cannot have the pearls without the mud. You cannot eat a cake and keep it. @DavidDeutschOxf

What's one surprisingly positive thing you've learned about yourself since the start of the pandemic?

Newton’s law of gravity is science. It’s false. Whether anyone thinks they believe it or not. We should expect the same to turn out to be the case with Einstein’s Relativity.

The good thing about Science is that it’s true, whether or not you believe in it.

Agree or disagree. The reason I chose to watch this video was because I learned YouTube has banned it from their platforms after getting a huge number of views (it just discusses the issue of lockdowns). It’s worth watching for that reason alone, imo.

After half a million views, an outpouring of emotional positive responses, no complaints about veracity & 100 likes for every dislike, @pandata19’s BizNews presentation, "The Ugly Truth about the COVID-19 Lockdowns" was deplatformed by YouTube. 1/4 odysee.com/@PANDA:3b/Time…

@ToKTeacher and I mount a defense of people in an upcoming episode of Do Explain, here speaking about @DavidDeutschOxf 's insight of explanatory universality😎

Why did you learn to code?

You've seen breathtaking idiocy on Twitter, haven't you? Worse than you ever imagined humans might be capable of. No you haven't. An actual idiot doesn't have the knowledge to astonish you. What you've seen is human diversity. (Mostly error, of course. But so is everything.)

Fun introduction to quantum computation. 1.1: (Information is physical)^3 – YES!!! But I think it would be worth revealing, even at this early stage, even just to mention, that probability ISN'T. That's why the Born rule is a 'rule', and not a law of physics.

Probability doesn't exist. Something either happens or it doesn't, with no in-between. What we think of as "probability" is just various forms of our ignorance about the full causal structure -- which can even involve multiple real timelines (that's quantum superposition).

This Monday at 5pm, @ChipkinLogan and I will muse about quantum gravity and the issue of locality quantum theory. Be there or be square! 😄 joinclubhouse.com/event/MEzQ6wLA
