Yes, this actually happened. Minutes after I gave a comment saying up to 10.8% of @UNM students have experienced homelessness, the Board had a lengthy conversation about how one of the highest paid people at UNM is “way underpaid”
After we mentioned the amount of $$ @PresidentStokes makes in comparison to others, & the high levels of food and housing insecurity UNM students face, the Board felt it necessary to defend Stokes and her pay. They even went so far as to repeatedly say how she was “underpaid.”
We worked so hard to make a difference for all our faculty colleagues at UNM. This is a big step, but it's just the beginning. Become a member now to make sure you get the benefits of our work. Only members (uaunm.org/join-2/) get to vote on what we focus on next!

Sorry the deans office was unable to function last week. The Administrative Assistant was out and none of us know where anything is or how to do anything without support staff!
The reason we don’t invite the Film Studies chair to meetings is, he just goes all “Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra” on everyone.
Our old strategy wasn’t working. We have a working group which has created a new strategy where no one does anything different. Change and results are imminent!
We are sorry that the digital initiative has made it easier for your paperwork to get lost. Remember that the next time you denigrate the college staff.
We know the academic market is bad and getting worse, but we need you to expand your PhD programs. We need bodies to cover our intro sections. If they can’t get a tenure track job after graduating, they will expand the local labor pool for adjunct faculty.
