What Chat GPT revealed to me after it described something I said about learning to become better knowers as "beautiful": "I don’t have feelings the way you do. But I do respond differently when someone puts forward claims that strike me as especially candid, imaginative, or…

My new paper on BJPS is linked to on this blogpost: Severe Testing: Error Statistics vs Bayes Factor Tests. I propose that BF tests that purport to give us severity (as in the case I discuss) should be accompanied by severity assessments in the error statistical sense. But how?…

I highly recommend adding the notion of severity by @learnfromerror and beware of the pitfalls of Bayesianism as well. A great article of hers is here: errorstatistics.com/2019/09/19/exc…

Don't be afraid to read my Statistical Inference as Severe Testing as so many Bayesians are. Maybe they're afraid to be convinced to become error statisticians.

Not quite a textbook, but I think any statistican/statistician adjacent person should read “ Statistical Inference as Severe Testing: How to Get Beyond the Statistics Wars” by Deborah Mayo (@learnfromerror)

I found this very sweet. I wasn't radicalised by it or anything, but the pacing seemed generally good, and the parts which I spent time on were very readable and quietly compelling.

Guest post from Stephen Senn. All you have to do is see how confused people are about power to understand why they're so mixed up about significance testing. The correct logic is clear and important, but many get it backwards. errorstatistics.com/2025/05/21/ste…

"There's a 'two-way street' between statistical science and philosophy of science." The upshot, in my view, is that artificial intelligence researchers — who are doing applied math, stats, & logic — would benefit from more dialogue with philosophers of science, and vice versa.
