None of these pictures are mine, happy to give credit if need be. Mainly sharing old newspapers of the history of football in Leeds, Leeds City & Leeds United.

Noah’s Ark Court, possibly the best named Road there’s been in Leeds.

On this night 126 years ago, almost 1000 people met at the Salem Chapel in Leeds. Leaving their work places in the mills, brewery’s, factories the decision was made to form a professional club to replace Leeds City. The ex City players had been auctioned off earlier that day.

United Fisheries back when it was United Fisheries. Would be great to have a better picture if anyone has one? As a kid I used to get my haircut in the hairdressers that was in the parade of shops. Used to make my week if I’d see a Leeds played going into the paper shop.

Floodlight Friday, Elland Road.

Leeds United verses Red Bull, 1987. In the 1980’s and 90’s the other Leeds United played in Division Thee of the Maidstone League.

Jack and Bobby Charlton, 1968.

Leeds United, 1968 Fa Cup Semi Final.

Always like these pictures of Johan Cruyff with Beeston Hill in the background (point of note, I think it’s actually still Windmill Hill at that point, not Beeston Hill).

Leeds United v Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road, 1972. A 2-1 win for Leeds United, Clarke and Charlton the scorers with a crowd of just under 44,000.

Peter Lorimer, Terry Yorath and Eddie and Frank Gray get lost whilst on a charity walk before having a whip around to pay a farmer £10 to give them a lift back to their cars.

Billy Bremner during the 1974 World Cup.

Elland Road some time around the early 1890s. The pumping station was later bought by Leeds City to expand the Elland Road ground, including rotating the pitch to face north to south as it is today.

Football news from the West Yorkshire League, 1905. Poor dressings at Beeston, referees not turning up, players registered for two clubs and late arrivals for games was all on the agenda.

Elland Road during the 1950’s. Possibly v Spurs in the FA Cup, Jan 1954. So much to take in on this picture and so many questions to be asked.

1904 football results from the various West Yorkshire and Leeds Football Leagues, with a good mix of church and work teams included.

Dewsbury Road & Beeston looking southwards 1948, the Tommy Wass pub bottom left of the picture. Zoom in and Elland Road can just be made out top centre of the picture with the chimneys of the old brick works to the right.

September 1913, over 20,000 spectators watch Leeds City’s 5-1 win over Bradford (Park Avenue).

What a beer mat this is. ❤️🙌
