Where do cancers start? In the liver, not all cells are the same. The liver is divided into 3 “zones,” and each specializes in different metabolic tasks. We show in @Science that where a mutation occurs in a liver lobule can determine a cell’s fate. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… (1/9)
Two new Nature papers show that inhibiting FSP1 is sufficient to restrict tumor growth in vivo, a major step forward for ferroptosis-targeted cancer therapy. Huge congrats to all authors! nature.com/articles/s4158… nature.com/articles/s4158… #Ferroptosis #FSP1 #CancerResearch

Excited to share our new study out in @NatureCellBio! Led by postdoc @MikeLangePhD, we identify the first #LipidDroplet lipid quality control pathway: LD-localized FSP1 protects stored lipids from oxidative damage and prevents LD-initiated #ferroptosis. nature.com/articles/s4155…

If blood has clonal haematopoiesis… sperm should get clonal spermatopoiesis, right? 😉 Two great @Nature papers shed new light on how mutations drive clonal selection in sperm stem cells: 🧬 Neville et al. 👉 nature.com/articles/s4158… 👨👩👦 Seplyarskiy et al. 👉…
Thrilled to share our latest work published in npj Precision Oncology! We present ASTUTE, a computational framework linking somatic mutations to gene expression, revealing the impact of KEAP1/NFE2L2 mutations across cancers. 🔗 nature.com/articles/s4169… 1/6
Interested in organellar metabolomics? Check out my talk tomorrow on how the Rapid Organellar IP technology has enabled discoveries in organellar biology over the past 10 years! Thanks Technology Networks for the invite to present! @CRI_UTSW technologynetworks.com/proteomics/onl…
#ChalkTalk: Here’s some of my thoughts after attending interview technique seminars + observing many chalk talks (thanks to CRI’s excellent training program for senior postdocs). 💡NO.1: A chalk talk actually starts with your research seminar on day one.

New preprint! We know cancer cells with somatic mutations are selected to evade the immune system. With @imartincorena Peter Campbell @ZJL1435957 @QuotientTx, we asked if immune cells with somatic mutations are also selected to fight cancer. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/5
Congrats to my postdoc, Aya Ludin Tal, on her Cell paper. Her work using live imaging in zebrafish identifies CRATERS on the surface of melanoma - immune hubs for T cells. CRATERS in human melanoma are the best predictors of immunotherapy success. authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S00…
