Infielder Jorge Polanco and the New York Mets are in agreement on a two-year, $40 million contract, sources tell ESPN. He is expected to play first base and DH.

#Mets and #Cardinals close on Contreras, according to sources.

It's believed Willson Contreras would accept a trade to the Mets - and The Mets are one team that would possibly allow Willson to get back behind the plate - tho majority of his role would be 1B The momentum has picked up since teams left Orlando - no signs of any disruptions…

It’s not always about talent/skill/necessarily what’s on paper. Pete Alonso was not apart of the problem , this isn’t addition by subtraction. David Stearns approach feels cold, getting rid of leaders just to improve on paper is not a way to build a team. Chemistry trumps all.

Cody Bellinger — like Alonso, a Boras client — is a better fit for the Mets now than ever before.

I’m not too sure the #Mets have a major sense of urgency to make up for these losses, David Stearns really likes the young core + will add multiple frontline pitchers. Not saying I agree with this but it seems to be the case. Odd way to run a big market team.

Team is being gutted. New core coming to Queens.

The Mets had some interest in bringing Pete Alonso back but they were not comfortable going to the lengths and figures it ended up at in his deal with the Orioles, league sources said.

Breaking: Alonso to Orioles. $155M, 5 years

Trade talks for Marlins’ Edward Cabrera heating up, with Orioles in the mix. Story with @WillSammon. nytimes.com/athletic/68772…

I think it’s between LAD/NYM but as of now Los Angeles is being much more aggressive in their pursuit of Skubal.

Who has the better farm system to make that deal happen?

Yes 100%

With all of this Dodgers and Skubal Talk, do you anticipate Mets jumping into this race? Would imagine they have to feel some type of pressure to do something big soon

Yeah and they didn’t lol

You couldn’t pony up $3M across 3 years to keep a player loved by the fanbase? David Stearns is a complete lost cause. Not sure how Cohen even allowed this to happen.

The Mets' offer for Edwin Diaz was three years at $66M with modest deferrals, according to a source.

#Dodgers remain active, looking to acquire Tarik Skubal and will continue to shop at the top of the market at all positions. Tucker, Skubal, and Ranger Suarez are names to note.

I think we’ll see some massive trades this offseason.

#Mets have to compensate now.. pressure is very real from the fanbase and Cohen hears it. Time to see if Stearns “IDGAF” mindset and vision wins, or Cohen steps in and makes a splash.

Now keep an eye on Fairbanks for NYM.

At some point it needs to be asked how David Stearns even has a job.

Closer Edwin Díaz's deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers is for three years and $69 million, sources tell ESPN. The Dodgers, who were targeting bullpen help this winter, got the best closer on the market, setting a new AAV record for relievers.

As expected, Edwin Diaz does not go back to NYM.

Edwin Diaz and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a deal, league source tells The Athletic.

BREAKING: Slugger Kyle Schwarber and the Philadelphia Phillies are finalizing a five-year, $150 million contract, sources tell ESPN. The NL MVP runner-up, one of the best home run hitters and clubhouse leaders in baseball, is returning to Philadelphia.
