Tonight, police officer and school board member Dan Goughnour was elected to PA's 35th Legislative District after the untimely death of Rep. Matt Gergely. He was able to hold the district easily, winning all but three municipalities, including his opponent's hometown of White Oak

Big results in PA's Dauphin County, a swingy area home to Harrisburg. Dems won judgeships for first time in 33 years; one of winners is the first Black woman judge in county ever. They beat the Republican DA who was looking to become a judge. pennlive.com/elections/2025…

An insane stat from @Eagle63’s newsletter: “Allegheny County and its 120+ municipalities was home to 467 local contests yesterday (boro council, etc.) GOP candidates beat a Democrat in 11 of them” I’m told that in Chester County the number is just 7 Republicans who won.

Democrats in the Keystone State defended their 5–2 Supreme Court majority last night after three incumbents were retained by voters, each by a margin of at least 20 points. This came despite Trump’s late push for the “No” campaign. #Pennsylvania🧑‍⚖️

Last night in the Presidential bellwether of Erie County, Pennsylvania, the Democrats flipped the County Executive position. Not only did they flip it, they unseated Republican incumbent Brenton Davis in a landslide, winning by 25 points in this Trump+1 county!

Josh Maines, a registered Democrat, won the Clearfield County Court of Common Pleas race by 178 votes (0.8%) against Ryan Sayers, a registered Republican and the incumbent DA. Clearfield county went 75-24 to Trump. This is a swing of 51 points. 1/

Race to watch: There's a real chance that the Democratic candidate (and a Democrat by party registration), Josh Maines, wins the Court of Common Pleas race in Clearfield County, an area that went 3 to 1 for Trump. Longer analysis coming if he pulls this off

Here’s the full list. Dems won often and everywhere, taking every race I had rated as a Toss-Up while also winning 19 races where I had the GOP having an edge. Most impressive performances coming in Collier, Moon, Plum, West Deer, Pine-Richland & Jefferson Hills

Tonight’s results for the Allegheny GOP were absolutely brutal to a level even I didn’t expect. Democrats won 82 / 93 competitive Mayoral | Supervisor | Commission races Democrats won 24 / 25 competitive School Board races

Democrats flipped the mayor’s office in Beaver, Pennsylvania. The borough supported every Republican candidate for president in the 20th and 21st centuries with the sole exception of TR in 1912. Hamilton’s predecessor, Robert Linn, was their GOP mayor from 1946 to 2004.

Many maps were made last night, but first and foremost, the map of Kathleen Madonna-Emmerling’s County Council race! I actually campaign managed for this race, and Kathleen is going to be an INCREDIBLE member of County Council.

To add on about the GOTV efforts, here is quick time series of total votes cast in City of Pittsburgh mayoral (general) elections back to 1977. Even though there was zero question with yesterday's results it was the highest # of votes cast since the 1977…

Cranberry Township, located north of Pittsburgh, was once a bastion of support for the GOP (Romney got 67% in ’12) but has dramatically shifted leftwards in the Trump era. Last night, the three DEM-aligned Supreme Court Justices were all retained overwhelmingly.

Dems gained new ground & took back some old strongholds in Allegheny County. Left is top of ballot race 2023, right is top of ballot race 2025. Growth in areas w/ increasing population areas (North Hills, western sections) but also reclaiming blue dogs in Alle-Kiski Valley

Even more staggering was ‘where’ Democrats won. Dems won competitive local races in traditional GOP areas like Moon, Plum, Jefferson Hills, Bethel Park, Crescent, Collier, South Park, White Oak & Springdale Boro. This was just pure domination by Allegheny Democrats.

One last update for the night: There were eight countywide races in Cumberland County, a historically GOP locale outside of Harrisburg. Democrats contested four and won three of those races (a judgeship, prothonotary, and recorder of deeds) per unofficial results.
