Hi Folks, I haven't posted for ages and will start writing again hopefully soon. For now, FYI survivors of domestic abuse in England+Wales can now get up to £500 and separately up to £2500 to escape their perpetrator or be safer at home. Info: tinyurl.com/bdha62hd @womensaid
Just a little reminder and introduction 🙂👋
I am proud to be raising awareness and advocating on behalf of women, mothers and children experiencing and recovering from abuse and violence perpetrated by men. I will not be apologizing for my assertive stance. Sorry, not sorry!
Revealed: huge disparities in birth control prescriptions across UK >> in my local area, the wait to have a coil removed is 3 months. Women's health, reproductive rights and wellbeing truly don't matter. theguardian.com/society/2023/j…

GPs in richest areas and those with lowest ethnic minority populations spend most on birth control per 1,000 women
"My husband told me 'I've worked out how to have you killed & get away with it'": The Repair Shop presenter Suzie Fletcher speaks out about her experience of abuse. Thank you Suzie for sharing your story to raise awareness & for mentioning Women's Aid. dailymail.co.uk/femail/article…
It's a very hot and humid Sunday morning here in London, so let me reassert: I am a proud advocate for the rights of women and children who are experiencing and recovering from abuse and violence perpetrated by men. Our human rights matter!

Still on the merry-go-round? Me too.
I document ALL unlawful deaths of women and children, regardless of perpetrator gender or relationship between the person killed and the accused.
This is an excellent in depth article about the murder of Nikki Allan and her mother's thirty year campaign to bring the killer to justice. Now she needs a full inquiry into the police failures which left the child abuser murderer free to offend further for so long
The murder of Nikki Allan, the trial of an innocent man & Nikki's mother's long fight for justice has stayed with me for 30 years. When I saw another man had finally been charged, I knew I was going back to Sunderland to write about it again.(In the @LRB) lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v45/…
I envy people who can work/write/ do creative work AND listen to music at the same time. I can't! It distracts me so much.

An essential read from colleagues at @wwp_en on why integrated support for survivors is a KEY part of a safe perpetrator programme. If a perpetrator programme doesn't offer comprehensive support for partners and ex-partners of the perpetrator, it's simply unsafe.
How do survivor support and perpetrator work go together? Ideally, they go hand in hand! A close connection and good relationship between survivor support services and #DomesticViolence perpetrator programmes is key for safe and effective perpetrator work. 1/3
I am writing another blog post, this time round it's going to be about Space for Action for female survivors. Just like the Three Planet Models I covered already (the thread for this is here👇), I hope it will help survivors with self-advocacy ❤ and educate professionals:
Incoming 🧵 Hi everyone! Today I'll be tweeting about the Three Planet Model. Created by Professor Marianne Hester, it explains confusing messages about #coercivecontrol protective mothers get from systems of protection such as police, the family courts or social services 👇
Our charity’s vital work to increase women’s safety and access to justice has been shortlisted for funding 👇 Thank you for recognising and highlighting that women deserve far better outcomes through the law @Impact100London #EndVAWG
The 2nd of our finalists is @rightsofwomen a charity dedicated to social justice & equality for women through their legal rights Formed 40 years ago in response to the 5th demand of the Women’s Liberation Movement for legal and financial independence for women 1/2 #impact100
Just imagine the support the father would have received from the authorities if it was the mother posing a risk of kidnapping the child. He would be listened to, believed, supported and celebrated for protecting the child's welfare.

Also, let's not forget the state of men in 2023, if you look at them as a potential co-parent
Women aren’t 'forgetting' to have children – it’s just become financially crippling to do so telegraph.co.uk/columnists/202…

Forget a sex drought, the real reason the birth rate is dropping is much more mundane
If we want to encourage women to have babies younger then we need affordable childcare and flexible working practices
Being a male campaigner against male violence against women and girls - #MVAWG - certainly gives me an insight into how many men want to deny it. Deny its scale, deny its prevalence and deny it’s only really with coordinated action by men role-modelling better that it’ll stop.
