You know what would be very, obviously, much more “carbon aware”? Letting me turn off updates.

It is nonsense to suggest you can’t write any app, of any complexity, in C. I do find a light level of C++ beneficial for many larger projects, but it can also go tragically wrong. Sometimes, specific language features can be transformative valuable, but not nearly as often as…

I started working on a new Go course called "Learn to Learn Go the Hard Way" with the premise of showing you how to learn a language using Go's documentation. I kind of don't know if I like it, but I made 15 videos, so I'm going to post them here, as a thread starting with Ex00:

i am still 100% convinced if you are getting 100x faster you are delusional or you were so bad at programming to begin with let me explain 1. 100x = 3.5 days == what you did in 1 year delusional or really really bad at programming

as soon as you stop seeing these models as magic wands that convert your thoughts to perfect code and instead as a time-saver that helps you understand + implement CS concepts 100x faster you are gonna realise what a massive unlock LLMs are

I just posted a new YouTube video briefly discussing crystal clocks, oscillators, and the piezoelectric behavior of some materials. I hope you enjoy! 🔗Link below:

@ThePrimeagen I run a yearly charity stream for Monterey Bay Aquarium in September, we've raised $1m over 6 years. Would you send me some stuff so that I can raffle it off for charity? Could be literally anything. This is a real request, DM me if you're interested! #SaveTheOcean

I am very excited to start “The Elements of Computing Systems: Building a Modern Computer from First Principles” aka Nand2Tetris. The scope of this course is insane, looking forward to it :)

I was reading some fixed point tutorials and all of them "cheat" in a way or another. Suppose you have a machine with word size of 32 bits to store a fixed point number, don't use 64 bits for multiplication, use 2 words. It may be harder, but it is more interesting of an exercise

Well, here we go. After well over two years, here's a new version of my programming languages book, PLAI (v3.2.5). As always, free of cost! Can't thank enough all the people named in the acknowledgments. Enjoy! plai.org

Why so many C data structures and algorithms books suggest the use of a linked list as support for implementing a stack ? A dynamic array is faster and more cache friendly.

Happy Friday! The instructions to build your very own EndBASIC microcomputer (aka the EndBOX), including links to components AND the very first public disk images 😱, are now available. Have fun! endbasic.dev/2025/07/endbox…
