If there’s no other emotionally available container… …a dysregulated parent will unconsciously regulate themselves through a child. The child who is sensitive enough to absorb their emotional distress- will be assigned the role. This childhood role continues…as an adult.

This is striking because it suggests that, from the perspective of men, the husband is more likely to initiate divorce (39%) than the wife (31%). The story you hear is "women initiate 70% of divorces," but according to actually divorced men, it's only 31%!
Do women end most marriages? Earlier data (2009-2015) show that about 70% of divorces were initiated by women. Newer data from 2021 by @dcoxpolls find that while there is still a gender gap, the difference is smaller, and men and women also perceive it differently.
