After 2 yrs on my shelf I finally read "Infographic Designers' Sketchbook". Although the layout is wonderfully done, I found the content to be a mixed bag; some #dataviz gems, but also quite dated infographics. Wish there was more explanation of thought processes of the sketches

Calling all my scientist friends that routinely hand-write equations which eventually go into papers. HOLY SHIT THIS EXISTS

Just finished "Programming skills for Data Science" by @mf_viz & Joel Ross. This book is an exceptionally well rounded & explained intro to the different programming skills you need for data science; git & GitHub, (lots of) R, dataviz, APIs, pinch of SQL & more. Really, 👏👏👏

I made my first tutorial for @astropy! Together with @eblur27 and @mircaze we show in this tutorial how to fit data using astropy.modeling. Check it out here: github.com/astropy/astrop… We want your feedback, so let us know if it was useful and/or you would change something.

A great write up that includes @NadiehBremer’s thought processes, inspiration, and discarded ideas. You never know how something will turn out, but if you don’t give it a crack... #dotastro #startsomethingnew #neverstoplearning

(N) The extensive (massive? ;) ) write-up detailing the data, design and creation process of my new Figures in the Sky project ⭐ is also already available to read! datasketch.es/may/

Quantity of work is not the best metric for judging quality of work.

Lets flip that meme around: what’s something that should be obvious, but your profession seems to misunderstand?
