Between the 1970s and the 2010s, much of Vidarbha's infra and irrigation money was diverted to the belt between Kolhapur and Jalgaon. As a result, Vidarbha had almost no irrigation and farmers died by the thousands every year while farmers in this belt were bragging of BMWs.
