Thank you, @ArfKeldo , for the shoutout in Light & Magic season 2, highlighting Yoda’s lightsaber moment from Attack of the Clones. CG was new, risky, and truly magical back then. Grateful to have been part of that era. If you haven’t seen it, give it a watch. #LightAndMagic
Some animation I did in 2008. #IndianaJones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. 👽#VFX #Animation
Love this film.
RT or like if Bluth’s masterpiece, “The Secret of NIMH” rocked your world and changed what you thought animation could be.
4K scan of 1992 Disney short “Off his Rockers” featuring early use of CG and digital ink and paint. Produced off hours at Walt Disney Animation Florida. Released theatrically with Honey I blew up the Kid. Directed by Barry Cook who went on to direct Mulan. youtu.be/sI0ybRInpa0
This is insane.
In addition to leading the senate battle, I got to animate the “Yoda in peril” shots at the end of the sequence. What an amazing opportunity working with George Lucas, @arfkeldo and all the talented people at @ILMVFX. Highlight of my career. #RevengeOfTheSith
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith - shot 1845
I animated this one. The original version was longer with both characters leaping into the scene, the edit changed so they needed to start closer to the podium. This shot marks the beginning of the Senate Battle.
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith - shot 1764
Some animation development I did for Hulk 2003. This was a test to see if video reference would work for getting realistic facial performance. Animation is based on footage of an animator who worked at ILM at the time. #hulk #VFX #Animation
I animated the shots when Yoda takes out the clone troopers. It was fun to show a successful Yoda attack after working on the Dooku battle. I was channelling Clint Eastwood with the eyes.
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith - shot 1354
A shot I animated a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Happy 20th anniversary to Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. #MayTheFourthBeWithYou
Some Dr. Strange animation I did in 2016. There was a last minute edit change so he needed to start seated, then stand up. I was given a week to finish it. No time for mocap. I spent half the week panicking then put it together at the last minute. #DrStrange #VFX #Animation
Some early Splinter animation I did for TMNT development (back in 2012). I think I was too subtle with the ear animation. #Splinter #VFX #Animation
Probably the most iconic shot of my career. James Tooley simmed the robe getting pulled to the side. The camera was static and wider in the first version. George told us to punch in and add the camera move. He instantly saw the potential. Grateful to be a part of it.
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones - shot 1924
Run of Hulk shots I animated for Age of Ultron - 2015. (With and without reference). It was late in the schedule, with no time to shoot additional mocap. So I busted out the iPhone. #Avengers #Hulk #VFX #Animation
Casper Pepsi Commercial - 1995. One of the first things I worked on after graduating from Ringling. It was made after Casper shooting wrapped, so the interiors had to be recreated as miniature sets. Amazing work by ILM’s model shop. Directed by Steve Beck. #Casper #Animation #VFX
Walk cycle test I animated for HULK in 2002. This was an early test used for muscle development. This and other tests can be seen on the Blu-Ray featurette “The Making of Hulk”. #Hulk #Animation #VFX #Marvel #WalkCycle
My brief contribution to #SpidermanHomeComing was animating this leaping moment. I also placed some of the other characters using mocap I shot for the film Antman. Looking forward to the new film! #Marvel #Animation #VFX #SpiderManNoWayHome
Here’s Yoda clinging to the podium with reference I shot of @arfkeldo. Always interesting to look at old reference and see how tightly it was matched. I kept the jaw more closed and added an eye widener when he loses his grip. #Yoda #Animation #VFX #StarWars
August 12, 2004: Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith: Animation director @ArfKeldo recorded himself hanging from a balcony to help animate Yoda clinging to the Senate podium, as can be seen in the August 12, 2004, 3-D graphic. In the final frame Yoda can be seen losing his grip.
Forever bad, The notorious #ScorpionKing from The Mummy Returns (2001). I was tasked with figuring out his eight legged walk. #MummyReturns #VFX #CreatureAnimation #Animation #WalkCycle 🎃
More scary animation from the vault. I animated this shot for Men in Black 1997. I was super excited to animate a creature designed by Rick Baker, a childhood hero. Animation Supervisor @ArfKeldo #MenInBlack #Animation #VFX #Halloween #CreatureAnimation
