Students struggling in math class don’t need traditional remediation. They need rich mathematical experiences related to their lives in order to make sense of what they are learning. “More of the same but slower/simpler” merely keeps those students behind.
This is a great question! They lead with empathy. They recognized we were humans FIRST and professionals second. Frequent checking-in, not on a punitive basis but more of a "how are you?" was also instrumental. I didn't feel micromanaged; I felt cared for. 1/
