A timely report of the #CastleFire Thursday allowed our resources to quickly respond & stop forward progress. This video is from our Emergency Command Center when the call first came in along with a time-lapse of our aerial attack dropping retardant within minutes of the call.

After looking at the 2021 data from Mount Home DF, we found that from a total of 448 trees (in 36 plots) that were alive in 2019, 𝟓𝟎% 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝! by the #CastleFire of 2020, with other 16% severely damaged. Clearly not the type of fire we need 🔥

Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest Oct 2020. #CastleFire Some areas: likely 100% mortality. Other areas that had previous Rx burn + thin treatments: far lower mortality and #goodfire! Saw several torched old growth, but saw many more live ones! Plus so many sequoia seeds!
