District-wide PD with Gr3 Ts about supporting Ss in their transition from additive to multiplicative thinking using number talks. With any learning, a safe and collaborative environment seems key. #LPSelemMath @CristinaRoof @NithyaSubrama17 @Linda_Menkis
Grateful for the collaboration with our #LPSelemMath team as we dig into work around identity. Loved connecting over our stories of what influenced/inspired us to where we are now. Really appreciate the opportunity to consider implications for our work!
Thanks @MisterBruff for reminding me about this wonderful question. Thanks also @SFUSDMath for all you share! We are so grateful! The challenges are many, but we hope there is a lot to smile about! #LPSelemMath @FiskeMath @Linda_Menkis
Love all the colors & math - so much to #noticewonder! @FiskeMath #LPSelemMath
Alissa Crans recently sent me a postcard featuring this gorgeous image. Can any of you decode it? I see that solid squares correspond to prime numbers. But what explains the color scheme and number of sub-rectangles in the entries for the composite numbers? #overthinking
@FiskeSchool Check out this free webinar coming up Wednesday w @gfletchy - facilitating 3-act math tasks remotely! @Ms_KMichael @msbelletti @MsHoffmanGrade4 @WildeSonny @jharringtonrm18 @Fiske109 @mrsashew @Torpey111 @kmgobiel @FiskeKinder103 @FiskeMath @cwai09 #LPSelemMath
Free webinar w/ @gfletchy on 4/22 at 4 p.m. ET! Learn to facilitate 3-Act Math Tasks remotely. These rich tasks will help you connect with your students, create spaces for sharing ideas, and engage in productive math thinking from home! #MTBoS hubs.ly/H0pdvKp0
#ChoralCounting by 1/2s in gr3 today. What a total joy!! How does 0 follow the pattern if we're counting by halves? A fun, important aha came when we renamed zero as 0/2 or 0 halves to follow the pattern that all numbers had a denominator of 2. #LPSelemMath #JoyinLearning
More fun w gr2 classes trying to find different polygons! Great launch into our geometry unit! #InterestingChallenge Grateful for the opportunity to teach the lesson a second time - I learn so much reflecting and collaborating with my colleagues @kmgobiel #LPSelemMath

Something fun to explore with students!? @msbelletti @BridgeElemMath #LPSelemMath
Is it not shocking that the standard long multiplication algorithm is commutative, that, no matter the order one computes the product the final sum on the bottom line is sure to be the same? Today's puzzle: How would you explain why this is so to a student, or just for yourself?
