In 2014, I did a spearman's rank correlation between the #REF2014 results and #RAE2008 and got a coefficient of 0.978. Are we expecting it to be bigger or smaller for #REF2021? How many billions must be spent on scoring everyone almost exactly the same?

Aha, sussed it, THE is doing weighted averages (by number of staff submitted). Which makes more sense. #RAE2008

Apparently, HEFCE will use a fairly straight quality weighting 4* = 7, 3* = 3 and 2* = 1 (with 1* and unclassified excluded) #RAE2008
