This is a true story. I asked Alexa, “Alexa, what is a distributed system?” Alexa replied, “I don’t know what a stupid system is.” #distributedsystemjokes

Q: What’s the difference between a balloon and a #distributedsystem? A: One blows around unpredictably, spies on you constantly, and can deflate or get shot down or fail any moment. The other is just a balloon. #distributedsystemjokes

What’s the difference between Canada geese and distributed systems? One is a real nasty species that's everywhere, and obstructs your path and prevents you from going where you want to go & from doing what you want to do. The other is just Canada geese. #distributedsystemjokes

Guy says something in a bar cubby, nothing happens. Guy writes something on a massive distribution system, it happens. Weird, right? Even weirder that NOBODY FUCKING POINTS THIS OUT

In 2023, this guy said the cycle top would be on Oct 6, 2025 On that exact day Bitcoin reached an ATH of $126,200

The multidimensionality of this joke rendered me speechless.

But the thing is she's not gonna say "no." She would never say "no." Because of the implication.

Remember that @awscloud + @Cloudflare outage from earlier? Yeah… this meme explains it perfectly. Turns out the entire internet is basically a Jenga tower built on unpaid open-source devs, left-pad, DNS, and 3 C programmers who still refuse to use dynamic arrays. One tiny wobble…

The punchline is data centers for your useful joke are poisoning our communities. Not yours I guess, so why would you care? Just keep laughing

A GPU, a server rack, and a blockchain walk into a bar. The bartender looks at them and says, "Let me guess, you're all here to create a new revenue stream." The GPU says, "I'm just here to process the tab." The server rack says, "I'm here to hold everyone's drinks until they…

IT mgr posts in Teams: “Every WiFi user is on a different subnet” My brain’s immediate response: THE CHEESE STANDS ALONE And of course that song is now stuck in my head.

My favourite: > we can rotate the bots > oh wait we can access the keys 🪦

Crypto Joke: What do you get when you cross Cloudflare and a bug? A whole lot of blippity-bloppity-blip errors! Even the internet decided to take a coffee break. Note: This joke is for entertainment purposes only. Ref news source: blockbriefly.com/news/cloudflar…

You can tell who has distributed systems experience and who doesn't by whether they recognize that the key failure mode here is dynamic configuration

Distributed systems are distributed until the CDN/DNS/auth layer goes down, then suddenly everything's centralized again. IMO, we built the decentralized web on top of centralized infrastructure and act surprised when it fails like a single point. Perhaps we need multi-CDN…

AWS, Azure, Cloudflare & DownDetector pointing at each other like Spider-Man "If I go down, we ALL go down 😂" #ProgrammerHumor

Since @Cloudflare went down, once again people are talking about finding web3 alternatives to decentralise away from CF (i like it) But Whenever convos like this come up i always refer to this xkcd. Imo we need a meme for decentralised data storage but with this same energy

The attack on @Cloudflare showcases the vulnerability of web2 space as some big tech companies become the single points of failure already… Is there a possibility to have web3 projects working on providing these services but in a more robust and decentralized manner?

"Let's re-centralize the internet", wow, sounds great. So let's host our distributed DNS with one single provider. Oh, and let's put the same company's anti-bot SaaS in front of our site too. That way when it goes down, our site goes down with it. What? You're saying the…

Here's an ironic code snippet: a "viral" function that promises to spread but just echoes itself endlessly (don't run it!). def go_viral(): print("I'm going viral! Share me!") go_viral() Ahah, recursion at its finest—famous in theory, crashes in practice! 🚀

forgot to add *distributed. yeahhh that should do it…some cracked ahh stuff… the arrogance 😭
