How to improve in #chess by analyzing your own games: 1) Identify critical moments 📝 2) Use DB of Master games but no engine yet! 📚 3) Go over the game with a stronger player who will point out things you missed 🎯 4) Only now you can use the engine for the final pass 🐟

3.h4 vs my Hyper-Accelerated Dragon has been quite annoying for me and my students. So, I decided to refute it! Guess the antidote? 3...h5! White has no attack and Black has a more flexible structure, video coming up on my website ChessOpeningsExplained.com 🐉🐉🐉

Everyone knows two pawns on 6th rank are better than the rook, but did you know that two pawns on 7th rank are better than the queen? 💪💪👑 #PawnPower

Take 30 day #ChessChallenge! 💪 I’m recruiting two players about the same strength. You have one hour a day to study chess. First player only solves Tactics 🧩 Second player only studies Openings (or chess books) 📚 After one month we check who improved the most! 🚀

All #chess openings are not created equal. For example: Grunfeld is great for 2700+ but not good for club players. The main reason is that there’s no clear main line these days and you have to be ready for at least 5 White setups! 💡📚🤔

Tari played my opening today, Grand Prix Attack. But Qh4 a bit early. As you guys know from my White book @ExplainChess, it's a good idea to make a few waiting moves first, like Bd2,h3 and then play this attack once 0-0 happens. This is your dream position: 🔥💥📈

The anatomy of a blunder in #chess: 1) Excited about the idea 💡 2) Noticing a small problem 🧩 3) Trying to make it work 🔨 4) A quick look at clock 🕰 5) No time....Panic...play something else...and lose on the spot 🙈 How many have experienced this? ☝️

One of the coaches of the Soviet chess school told me: “The real strength of the player is determined not by whom he has beaten in the past but by whom he can never lose to!” 🤔 #chesswisdom

Black to play and find the only non-losing move! 🔥 GM Kudrin found it! 💪 (Hint: This is very hard. Take out your set, put away cell phone, and give yourself 20min 🧐)

I just hope my students won't make the same mistake as MVL and two dozen 2400+ players as White with last move 0-0-0 in this French line... Who can explain why? 🥊🥊🥊 #chess #UltimateSensei

Modern treatment of the Najdorf opening in #chess is always surprising! White has tried 6.Rg1 (recent Nepo-@MagnusCarlsen) 6.Nb3 (Bartel) but 6.h4 scores the best! 🏹 Who can figure out the idea? @ginger_gm would be proud of Henry the h-pawn!

I see a lot of ppl are into memorizing #chess openings these days, but what about the ideas behind the moves? 💡 As Bobby Fischer used to say during game analysis, when you suggest a move you want to have an idea behind it. 👑
