The Labour movement has more than just John Rawls and Welfare Statism. Labour should be the party of work, worker ownership and participation. We ain't just paternalist liberals. Only the symbiosis of Statism with Communiterianism would ensure meaningful change to people's lives

The response from a trade union general secretary to my tweet suggesting that the Left should perhaps concentrate a bit more on the class divide. And they wonder why the Left is so divided and marginalised.

We don’t build movements or organise to win like this. Those who view the struggles of women, lgbtq+ or disabled ppl, migrants, or BAME communities as secondary have no place in our movement. This isn’t just politics, it reveals how they value ppl. It’s their political praxis🗑

I guess when you’re raking in £107k every year, the class divide isn’t a priority.

"If you are a woman and have spent your life campaigning for women's rights and now want to defend single sex spaces then you are a reactionary bigot. Never mind your background, you have no place in the 21st century...."

Having left behind a country in which brave women are imprisoned for refusing to wear hijab, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about this 'Our Stories' programme currently on @BBCTwo talking about hijab empowers the wearer?!

#Duda's victory is v concerning. Shame on all the British Euroscptics who congratulated him! Opposing EU's excesses shouldn't mean sucking up to poundshop fascists around the world. But it does tell you something about the unpopularity of the pro EU centre right. #PolishElections

We shouldn't fall into the trap of assuming that 'cancel culture' affects only those with a public profile. It doesn't. Many ordinary people will also feel its toxic effects in their workplaces, with some paying a big price for non-conformism. These stories we rarely hear about.

We are fast moving to a situation where no problem, no news story, no social or political issue isn't seem through the prism of race. Instead of being blind to colour, we are becoming hyper-aware of it. It's going to end badly.

I heard from Black, Asian and minority ethnic business owners about the impact of the crisis. From health to business, BAME communities have been disproportionately affected. Existing inequalities have been made even worse. voice-online.co.uk/news/uk-news/2…

If Corbynites had spent as much time visiting places like Leigh - getting to know the people who live there & how they view the world - as they do arguing online about who is or isn't w/class then the Labour party might not have had its worst defeat since 1935. Just a thought!

Not being funny or anything but we shouldn't take any advice from any of these Labour MPs. Serious judgement error!

If you’re on the left and slag off the working classes for voting Tory, you’re part of the problem and Labour will never progress if you continue

Kneeling now seems to be obligatory before sport in UK. What could have been a period of reflection about the issues ethnic minorities face in UK (not least the void of empathy & compassion within Home Office) has now turned into worldwide spread of American gestures & platitudes

More than anybody else, We Socialists need to call out the human rights abuses of Beijing, call out the inhumane mixture of Confucianism and Accountancy that passes for Socialism in China. Speaking up for Hong Kong should not become a right wing hobby horse. #NotInOurName

I praise J.K. Rowling for standing her ground. She is a hero of our times. She is not transphobic and neither am I. This fight to preserve the free exchange of ideas is worth having; to protect the hard-won rights of women but also to uphold the principles of our free society.

What are you supposed to do if you can't get the home pack and don't have a car and the Covid testing facility nearest to you is drive through only? They tell you not catch public transport. Talking about regional inequality
