Where is the prosecutor today who imprisoned a young man for years without giving him the right to a trial? Who tried to force a plea? Have they been punished? Until we hold those accountable who abuse the system, the system won’t change. We failed you, Kalief.
TW: Suicide. 7 years ago today, Kalief Browder died. At 16, he was falsely accused of stealing a backpack, charged with a violent felony & prosecuted as an adult. The judge set bail beyond what his family could afford. He suffered at Rikers for 3 years, incl. 2 in solitary. 1/8
Roy struggles getting to sleep. I’ve been trying a mindful tactic: Put his stuffed animal on his tummy. Ask him to focus on his breath in & out with his eyes closed. He relaxes & does GREAT! Only problem is after a few minutes he says “now begin to wiggle your fingers & toes…”

There is not one credible law enforcement organization, nonprofit, school safety expert, or researcher who thinks arming teachers is the solution. Increasing the number of guns does not cause fewer gun deaths or correlate to less gun violence. 10/10
