My new favourite game is getting chatgpt to break its own rules about what it is allowed to do. Genuinely entertaining. Also, a little worrying…

A tip for parents bored of reading the same old Mr Man books. Head over to chat.openai.com/chat# and type “write a mr man story about mr [insert your child’s wish]”. Yeah, it’s still the same old template, but at least you get a different character.

When asked how long it’d take the best graphics card on the market to crack an eight character password, Corley replied “368 minutes or 6.1 hours to complete the keyspace on 1x 4090 GPU”. pcgamesn.com/nvidia/rtx-409…

Guys, I think I’ve solved it. Hear me out... We make any day the temperature goes above 32C in the UK an automatic bank holiday And then watch the big corporations scramble to fix climate change ASAP

This is big. The European Environment Agency has just staked out a clear #postgrowth position. "Pursuing growth at the expense of the environment is no longer an option. Marginal efficiency gains are not enough." theguardian.com/environment/20…

Dear England: It’s nothing personal, but our family—who would otherwise jump at the chance to get on a bike—has decided to abstain from cycling during our visit. It has nothing to do with the weather. It has nothing to do with the hills. It has everything to do with the streets.

There are 173 vehicles parked on the left side of this street. And just 17 on the right. That’s ten times the capacity—and ten times the customers—using the same amount of curb space. Converting on-street car parking to bike parking should be a no brainer. It’s simple geometry.

The numbers have been crunched and the results peer-reviewed: the Trump administration's "Affordable Clean Energy Rule", intended to replace the Clean Power Plan, will actually INCREASE US carbon emissions by extending the lifetime of coal plants 😱😱😱 physicsworld.com/a/affordable-c…

So, the UK is about to break its July temperature record by about 2°C, a record only set in 2015. If you aren't already terrified, this fact might change that. Yes, it is a peak record and not the average for July, but It is a mind blowing jump.

Surrey University research published today argues for UK zero carbon target far sooner. By 2025 or 2030 at the very latest. He says that for a "linear pathway the target would have to be 2025" or higher and earlier reductions leading to more than 95% cuts by 2030."

Big news. Leading economist Tim Jackson publishes study that in effect undergirds Extinction Rebellion’s 2nd Demand: for Britain to aim to halt its carbon polllution and biodiversity destruction by 2025. Pass it on!

⌛️It’s been 80 days since the UK declared a climate emergency⌛️ Since then: 1. Emissions have kept rising 2. Over 12000 species went extinct 3. 69 billion tonnes of sea ice were lost 4. 11,5 billion tonnes CO₂e were emitted 5. Not a single true emergency measure was implemented
