Being a human therapist and sitting with a human patient…when you imagine that someone thinks AI therapy can do the same thing you just cant help but wonder why on earth someone would even consider such a thing.
Managed care helped push therapy professions into the toilet. If people can’t make a sustainable living, or face so much bureaucratic intrusion that they’re reduced to functionaries & clerks, there will be a brain drain The vacuum will be filled another way. We’re seeing that 👇
Some factors contributing to dramatic decline of psychotherapy in recent decades 1️⃣Deep intrusion of health insurance agendas into psychotherapy and psychotherapy training 2️⃣Dramatic decline in reimbursement. Psychologists in managed care paid 70% less in inflation-adjusted
Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of “golden repair.” Broken pottery is rejoined with lacquer & gold and becomes STRONGER in the repaired places. Character and beauty are enhanced by honoring, not hiding, it’s history Psychoanalytic therapists know human relationships also
Psychoanalysis. Marijauna and alcohol were much cheaper so if they work for you keep with it!

There are plenty of obese psychoanalysts who have been analyzed so perhaps not. I doubt this will ever be studied but I would love to know the answer to this if that’s even possible to know (2 of 2).
Addiction and obesity have a lot of overlapping components psychologically. I wonder if psychodynamic or psychoanalytic treatment which can definitely work for addiction in some cases can also work for obesity without the use of GLP-1’s. I assume it would but (1 of 2)
Real psychotherapy as a patient is blue collar work. This shit is grueling sometimes.
Does anyone know of studies that point to change in psychodynamic treatment vs doing nothing for certain issues? I ask this because I know two people who have never had any treatment of any kind who as they got older became kinder and more gentle and self aware. They changed.
psychoanalytic education has a focus on race and oppression and that our minds are warped by the world and oppression and exploitation and not just our personal neurotic fantasies. This is all new in the curriculum. How can this possibly be new and not included previously? wtf!
Little break between patients, analysis, supervision and control cases. Why didn’t I become a plumber or a fireman? #freud
I wonder how many therapists have an axis 2 diagnosis. A lot of articles are written like the analyst doesn’t have cluster B but the patient does. IME this can’t possibly be true. Are therapists more similar to patients than different?
