Number sense first! Always! Here's an idea I tweeted a while ago. Develop a sense of quantity before focus on procedures.
Parent conferences: Talking about math…T:we’re going to focus on subtracting in the millions. Me: how is that going to happen w/o losing the number sense? S: I get confused with all the 0’s. @mburnsmath @howie_hua I feel there is a disconnect between strategies and algorithms
