Carmakers literally profit by the pound & Americans are such suckers for โBig Car Betterโ marketing theyโll shell out $55,000 for whatโs essentially a $25,000 sedan on an SUV platform. I.e. 5% more body steel, 10% more lift, for 100% more money. We are a very stupid people.
