Today I'm returning to Bailey Nelson as Engineering Manager which means lots of CommerceTools, Shopify and AWS but just as importantly, no Adobe or Magento

Studio, workshop, man cave, ... HELL YEAH

open source tools should just fall out of any good engineering team's normal process if you're any good it's hard to not have this happen so i think this is actually a really good heuristic because it's only true of 1% of teams

Just "coding" is fine.

We need an official name for not-vibe-coding. My top candidates so far: · boomer coding · chewgy coding · trad coding · Coding with capital C Suggestions are welcome.

Agreed. I do wonder if sometimes these are being used to make developers feel like they need to use certain hosting platforms.

I'll continue to die on the hill of "magic directives are bad API interfaces". They're not type-safe, they're not extensible, no native runtime control, they're just strings. ... I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would rather debate @ directives. Pls rewind history.

Ouch

I don't hate AI, I just enjoy programming.

I've come to appreciate just how useful having key and ID fields in @commercetools really is. It makes it so much easier to sync changes across multiple projects.

Aurora DSQL still isn't available in the Southern Hemisphere 🙃

It's a bit of a longshot but does anyone know when Aurora DSQL will be coming to ap-southeast-2 (Sydney)?

It's the kind of year that these could be related.

The more domains I let expire the less I feel the urge to renew the remaining domains.

The AWS CDK is 💩 So many hacks for features CloudFormation❤️ supports. Amazon Q is on 💉 telling me to use CDK constructs that don't exist and even claiming versions they were added. Using the CDK for this new project was the worst decision I ever made.

I discovered the "buildEnd" hook for React Router 7 framework on the weekend. This is going to simplify Lambda deployments a lot.
