As per isc2, 46% of attacks on operational technology go undetected. In the US, the oil and gas industry is classified as critical infrastructure. With many operations going online, cyber threats increase and must be a major consideration in building a process control facility.
It is interesting to know that according to Boston Consulting Group (via isc2), the fines levied for non-compliance to regulatory standards have cost organizations more than $321 billion in total since 2007.
