Rendering 100k objects with dense geometry in a single draw call without instancing in ~3ms. Pipeline is GPU driven with LODs, frustum and meshlet culling. Once occlusion culling is done, number of draws can be significantly increased for this test case. Github link in Thread.
The way I've always done this is to have the original version and the new version, and then do a shader that does: vec4 main (...) { return abs(old_ver() - new_ver()); } If you can see any pixels, you screwed up :-)
