何やっても強制終了しないのがPerlの良いところなのに最近は例外吐いて止まるコマンド、ライブラリー多いな。そしてウリのはずの正規表現マッチングで例外吐いて止まるとかマジ終わっている。。。Pythonみたいにあらゆるところに例外処理必要に

なーんか知ってる世界線と違うなぁ 何となくだけど2000年当時はもう実装から離れてて伝聞で「これこれだから使えない」みたいな話を聴いて、それを覚えてた感じがしてならない そもそも実際にプログラムしてたら perl を打ち間違える事は100%あり得ない

Another day, another argument about Perl on the HN where some professionals apparently believe any programmer should be able to read any program without learning the language or reading the documentation, let alone understanding the problem domain.

I probably romanticize my time writing perl too much but I really do think it nailed the medium between being a full programming language and a shell scripting language. Using subprocess.run in python hurts my soul every time.

In Perl, \A matches the beginning of a string and \z matches the end of a string. Removes ambiguity of lines vs strings.
