Love seeing RL robustness demos, these tasks are impressive
We just released results for our newest VLA from Physical Intelligence: π*0.6. This one is trained with RL, and it makes it quite a bit better: often doubles throughput, enables real-world tasks like folding real laundry and making espresso drinks at the office.
Today I’m proud to share what I’ve been working on recently with my team at @BostonDynamics along with our collaborators at @ToyotaResearch . bostondynamics.com/blog/large-beh…
Atlas is demonstrating reinforcement learning policies developed using a motion capture suit. This demonstration was developed in partnership with Boston Dynamics and @rai_inst.
every time I stay in the office at night I’m simultaneously pleased and terrified by the robots constantly strolling right behind me
Atlas is autonomously moving engine covers between supplier containers and a mobile sequencing dolly, using ML to detect and localize the environment fixtures and individual bin. There are no prescribed or teleoperated movements. youtu.be/F_7IPm7f1vI

Atlas Goes Hands On
Already know some cheeky grad student is gonna use “Concepts of a Plan” as part of their next paper’s title
The holy grail of graphics (via Ivan Sutherland’s “The Ultimate Display”)
The fact that context was added to this video is interesting. in the limit, it should make no difference to a user whether a robot is being teleoperated or moving autonomously if it gets its job done. that *should* only matter to the seller
In last week's S3 @1x_tech shared their plans to quickly deploy Neo, their new robot, in homes. So I asked if they'd put Neo in my home.
Atlas doing a quick warm up before work.
today’s mood
it’s so nice to have friends who will do what they can to push you out of your local minima even when they’re far too busy to. I wanna pay all those acts forward tenfold
Can't trip Atlas up! Our humanoid robot gets ready for real work combining strength, perception, and mobility.
demand for this is probably low but it would be nice if there were publicly available robots that could be “rented” by hobbyists/independent researchers/engineers/robotics software orgs when they aren’t being used (And if there are, lmk where)
happy new year to ppl who post awesome-<x> repositories on github
I have more friends than usual attending neurips this year. I’ve never really cared about neurips much before, and I’m generally not a huge fan of academic confs anymore, but I do feel a teeny bit of fomo rn…
theory will only take you so far
The future doesn’t just arrive; it has to be built. What does that mean for writing about technology? The third issue of @kernel_magazine is out today, and you can get your copy now at shop.kernelmag.io ⚡
