It is a very sad day for the digital world as Microsoft ended support for Windows 10. When it first launched, majority of users used Windows 7 over Windows 8, 8.1, and 10. Windows 10 became popular after Windows 7 ended support 5 years ago. Windows 10 will be missed dearly.

It is heartbreaking to hear Charlie Kirk has passed at 31. Disagreements is never an excuse to take a life. Scorpion Net Support will ensure to support everyone no matter what and help with tech related issues or if they have tech related questions. Prayers go to the Kirk family.

IPS is a security device that helps relating to incident response. It is like an IDS as it detects threats, except it removes the threat preventing the issue to spread through the network.

What is IPS?

Network Security

Firewalls are becoming essential for your network. Objective for firewalls are to packet filter between the inside and outside networks. Firewalls block access to the outside network by default and block ICMP messages. Configuring rules is essential before using in your network.

Access Control Lists (ACLs) is a security policy that denies or permits packets. Networks need ACLs to keep organizations safe. There are different kinds of ACLs. Standard ACLs only support OSI layer 3 while extended ACLs support both OSI Layer 3 to 4.

VLANs are great to implement for your network. VLANs are great for budgeting, security, scalability, and segment broadcast frames. VLAN 1 is a default VLAN. Using VLAN 1 is not recommended as it can lead to VLAN related attacks. Creating different VLANs is a better option.

Another thing about passwords is to be sure to never use your personal information as your password. The risk for that is your personal information will end up getting leaked online. So do try to refrain using it as your password. It has been very common from each user.

Passwords are good to have when accessing to your computer and such right? But there are security flaws, that can make passwords easy to break in. Good security measures relating to passwords is to be sure it is at least 10 characters long.

Of course poweroff command will do the trick for Linux.

Subnetting is a good skill to achieve on Information Technology. It is good when it comes to Network Scalability, Security, etc. In IPv4 networks, subnetting is crucial as we are running out of available IP addresses. Which is why IPv6 is created in the late 90s.
