There's been a fraction of AI guys (not just randos, this includes some luminaries in the field) proudly stating that they would be unperturbed — **if not outright happy** — with the dying-out/extinction/genocide/replacement of mankind at the hands of AI. Here are some examples:
another L for thr doomers @ESYudkowsky was totally wrong about recursive self-improvement, AI won't just rebuild its next version in the shadows we, humans are purposefully building self-improving AI
New interview with Mark Chen and Jakub Pachocki: - "The big thing we're targeting is producing an automated researcher. Automating discovery of new ideas, automating our own work, automating ML research. And we're also thinking about automating progress in other sciences." -…
why do they have to lie?
Only President Trump could convene so many tech leaders in one place. We had a constructive conversation about how to grow the economy with new infrastructure spending. This will benefit not only software companies but manufacturing, energy, construction, the trades and workers.

how dumb one can be to think that ios app updates = new model checkpoints ohh, e/acc nevermind
“app upgrades are roughly on par with internal upgrades” …bruh what what are you saying
I don't recall a lot of people in 2023 saying that within a few years worker productivity would 10x due to LLMs. I do recall a lot of people in 2023 saying "LLMs can't reason" though.

Training phi-4-reasoning with GFPO cuts GRPO’s length inflation by - 71% on AIME 25 - 80% on GPQA - 83% on Omni-MATH - 80% on LiveCodeBench (WITHOUT training on code!) …while matching or beating GRPO in accuracy Vaish sharing a great 🧵 below!
gpt5 ai r&d capabilities barely changed based on system card, is openai not consistently candid again?
We've entered a new phase where progress in chatbots is starting to top out but progress in automating AI research is steadily improving. It's a mistake the confuse the two.
okay, now we know which side
i always wanted to write a six-word story. here it is: ___ near the singularity; unclear which side.
many much cases
I have access to GPT-5 via Copilot, it is state of the art at reasoning, passes the entire SimpleBench almost entirely with flawless accuracy.
average ai dev be like: "there are too much model - check notes: 7 - in chatgpt's model selector" then releases: deepseek-kimi-k2-non-thinking-gguf-16b-r2-v2-0605
50 (!) LLMs released these past 2-3 weeks. But the real kicker is when you think of this: It is the most releases we’ve seen so far, but the least releases we’ll see in the future 🤯
and after a few min of trying to figure out which one to use, devs would say: "screw ot, let's just use openai api"

During the MSFT-OpenAI contract renegotiation, there's a rumor OAI had a paper about they have agi. For a second, i thought agi really had been achieved internally. Then realizing how consistently candid OAI was lately, i concluded they *just* have a paper claiming they have agi.
Who on Earth would care how AI companies mangle their definition of "AGI" to suit their short-term PR incentives? I'd sooner have the word go by the gut feel of a random user, than by press release of AI lab. The user's words might mean something.
happy gpt5 month to those who celebrate it
the timeline is: agi -> asi -> ai that can read charts&tables in a pdf file
