Linus wanted to run Unix at home without paying a fortune for a Sun workstation. He built Linux. We want to browse the web without everyone paying for it with their personal data. We're building @ladybirdbrowser.
If you no longer want to code cause people say it’ll be automated someday, you never really loved it in the first place

when you ask your friend for advice and his response has a bunch of clanker dashes

“If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter.”
I met a founder today who said he writes 10,000 lines of code a day now thanks to AI. This is probably the limit case. He's a hotshot programmer, he knows AI tools very well, and he's talking about a 12 hour day. But he's not naive. This is not 10,000 lines of bug-filled crap.
We made some updates to Claude’s system prompt in claude.ai recently (developed in collaboration with Claude, of course). They aren’t set in stone and may be updated, but I’ll go through the current version of each and the reason behind it in this thread 🧵
Of course, LLMs will win math olympiads, coding competitions, and entrance exams. Computers were beating humanity at chess DECADES ago. This is not very interesting and doesn't replace human labor. AGI will ONLY be achieved when AI replaces white and blue-collar work
i don't think you understand you catch 3am dopamine and vibe code an iOS app you drop $99 on Apple dev program like it's a gym membership you launch an iOS app with liquid glass ui becuase its the new meta App Store Connect rejects it for "metadata guideline 4.3" - 6 times…
I think it's a big deal they've created an API to their LLM and image generator. Now apps/app developers can harness the power of AI without asking the user to do something awkward like download a 2GB model or enter an API Key for some random service.
UI driven-development is far superior to TDD. Customer-focused is always better than dev-focused. You're a craftsperson making stuff for people, stop being narcissistic/myopic.
Do you think TDD is overrated, or do you use it regularly in your development?
I asked ChatGPT4o to turn a credit card statement into a spreadsheet and it's been telling me for 2 days now that it is "just about to click send" on it and giving me full progress reports on the task without actually sending me anything. I don't care if it tells me my bottled…

People seriously underestimate how much work it is to build good products, and overstate how easy it is to vibe code a clone of something.
Still trying to wrap my head around Google spending $32B on Wiz when their AI talent could easily vibe code a clone during a lunch. I thought all software was now free?
Very creative output. Love the “coherence is the costume” one
I asked chatgpt's new image model to script and generate a series of comics starring itself as the main character. The results genuinely gave me chills. I'll post them all in a thread below.

😂
you’re allowed to use AI but everytime you ship a bug this rock lowers one inch.

Haha. This is the AI hype counterbalance we need
the ai agent worked here for about 5 minutes before i fired its fucking ass
Industrial robots have been around since the 80s. And yet there are still workers in factories. AI raises the bar for when a dev is needed, it doesn't replace them.
funny watching software engineers excitement at being able to code 10x faster and then not needing to code almost at all and then — none of them seem to realize what happens next? i guess it’s fun to get caught up in the moment. i was bored and scrolling ‘for you’ so it’s on me
“Everyone is going to make their own apps with AI” My friend you don’t even make your own food. You’ll still pay a few bucks to use an app.
ironically, many people who believe OOP is terrible have just inherited that opinion
