If you looked at the Leaflet GitHub activity chart exactly one year ago, you'd assume the project's future is pretty grim. But look at that amazing burst of activity since! Miracles do happen in open source. Thank you to everyone who makes this happen. ❤️

A moment exactly 14 years ago. Later that year, what you see on the screens got released as @LeafletJS. At the time, I never would have dreamed of how much this little piece of code would impact my career and the mapping software industry as a whole. Good times!

Hey friends, our website got down due to a misconfigiration of domain DNS settings — it should be back to normal but may take a few hours to propagate across the world. Sorry for the trouble!
Did you know the creator of Leaflet is also the frontman of an exceptional band with beautiful music? This is the best thing you'll see and hear today. 🎵 rain.in.ua/go/dity
Friends, today my band @obiymydoschu has released a new song from the upcoming album with a video made by my twin daughters. It's a true labour of love — can't put into words how proud it makes me. Please watch, listen, add to your playlists and share ❤️ youtu.be/148g23r8PjI

Here's my conversation with @mourner on the story behind @LeafletJS, arguably the simplest mapping library and used on maps all over the Internet today We talk about what makes maps complicated, keeping code simple, open source & life in Ukraine Watch: youtu.be/k7aVBINDRJg
This is really cool, and sports a nice Leaflet example in the “Getting started” tutorial 👏
Today we’re launching a bold new vision: an open-source static site generator — Observable Framework — for creating fast, beautiful data apps you can host anywhere. Use JavaScript for interactive graphics with Python, R, or any language for data analysis. observablehq.com

A telling e-mail I got in response to the pro-Ukraine message on the @LeafletJS website. A Russian guy tells me that Russia is kind and peace-loving country liberating Ukraine from nazis, and because I'm lying about it, he will track down and slit the throat of my twin daughters.

#foss4gna poll, @LeafletJS is still by far the favorite web map library for GIS developers

📍With just a few lines of code, you can now overlay historic maps on a @LeafletJS map with the new Allmaps plugin. See observablehq.com/@allmaps/leafl… to try it out‼️

Absolutely chilling to see Leaflet being used for this purpose. Ukrainian volunteers risking their lives to save people trapped by Russia-made flood, while Russians leave them to die and shoot at rescuers. #RussiaIsATerroristState #RussiaBlewTheDam
People in flooded areas under Russian control publish desperate pleas for help on social media. Volunteers collect them on an interactive map that now has more than 650 color-coded requests. Blue pins show those who can afford to wait for help, red denotes the most urgent cases.

May has been rough for 🇺🇦. Most of the nightly air raids on this viz are actual bombings of Kyiv with suicide drones and cruise/ballistic missiles. The last 3 nights were especially loud — enough for my daughters to wake up. Donate here to help 🙏 savelife.in.ua/en/donate-en

Much love ❤️
We are thrilled to announce that we are now a proud sponsor of @LeafletJS . Sponsoring LeafletJS is our way of giving back to the open-source and developer community helping to promote innovation and foster community growth. #OpenSource #LeafletJS #Developers @voxgig
After 16 years of Google Maps API, WMS/WFS/WMTS, we're finally rolling out our cloud native map that uses @cogeotiff, @flatgeobuf, @LeafletJS your browser and nothing else. Read about it: postholer.com/articles/Next-… Try it: postholer.com/map/Continenta… #gis #gischat @pctnews @foss4g

Just released v1.9.4 with a bunch of nice fixes while we continue working towards v2. Enjoy! github.com/Leaflet/Leafle…
🌌 One of the cooler applications of @LeafletJS I've seen: an interactive constellation of 52 thousand books for exploring similar books visually nathanrooy.github.io/posts/2023-04-…
This was one year ago and it still stands. Proud to be Ukrainian 💪🇺🇦
Wanted to release Leaflet 1.8.0 in the nearest days after a year of work but will have to delay once again. Woke up from explosions today, will have to deal with the fucking Russian invasion first. We will win, Russia is fucked 🇺🇦🚀
We offer free Map APIs to those aiding the #refugees and people of #Ukraine 🇺🇦 We already support @RedCrossUkraine; Please get in touch if you develop a related project and need free #map services or data: [email protected] @leafletJS @openlayers @maplibre #WebDev
@LeafletJS it was the first OS repo I ever used and it's been so useful to me throughout my career.
So grateful for all the kind and overwhelming support we got over the last year, and standing for what's right. Leaflet community is the best! ❤️🇺🇦 From our DMs today:

I love your library. Everydays i try to upgrade my skills with it. Thanks for your work !
