I once sat next to Dijkstra at dinner. I asked him why he didn't use category theory, as it's the ultimate theory of programming? His response was: "If I was as young as you, this is what I would do. But I'm too old now, so it's up to your generation". This was 30+ years ago.

Indeed! A monad is just a monoid in the category of endofunctors. And there's 25 seconds to spare too :-)
development is thinking, that's why so many people suck at it
An organization that treats its programmers as morons will soon have programmers that are willing and able to act like morons only. ~ Bjarne Stroustrup #SoftwareDevelopment

Some out-of-touch CEO who hasn't coded in decades thinks AI is replacing software engineers 🙄 These 'geniuses' believe building real software is as simple as asking a chatbot. Let's get real (🧵)
ceiling is being raised. cursor's copilot helped us write "superhuman code" for a critical feature. We can read this code, but VERY few engineers out there could write it from scratch.
"Oh no! The coding is dying!" "You know if you have a computer you can still do it." "But I won't get paid for it!" "So, you didn't like it in the first place?"
SQL is a nice place to work in. It doesn't change. It's older than me. It's simple to learn, no OOP, no async promises, etc. There aren't people creating new frameworks every week for it. What you write today will work in 10 years time.
A C-like language can look much better if you are creative enough🤣
