The maps at 1:10,000 and 1:25,000 are much easier to read thanks to better colour contrast. Such contrast is much better for outdoor activities, for which the #BaseMap is also intended. And the map graphics still have some of the quality of the old national maps.
Just discovered #Basemap, a #Python package for cartography, is long deprecated. I've used it for every map in my final year project. They work perfectly but somehow I'm having to fight myself to not change it all to #Cartopy, the newer cartography toolkit 1 week before it's due
